Real world nutrition and recipe ideas for you to prepare and integrate into your balanced diet
Hi, I'm Kate,
My own path to wellbeing has embedded what I knew in my heart- that time spent immersed in nature is therapeutic for mind, body and soul. Nature, and in my experience, especially woodlands provide us with preventative, proactive boost promoting whole person wellness; connecting with like minded people and sharing our woodland wellbeing experiences elevates this feeling of healthy contentment to the next level.
Shinrin - Yoku practitioner . Mindful Nutrition Advocate . MHFAider . Outdoor First Aid Qualified
I have followed a nomadic career path that encompasses teaching adventure sports, supporting and teaching young people with behavioural, emotional and learning difficulties, and more than 2 decades as a chef specialising in healthy, hearty, nutritionally balanced dishes. With woodland wellbeing I bring all these experiences together facilitating opportunities for low intensity, relaxed pace, immersive motion and thought; encouraging participants to slow down and be more deliberate in thought and action.
Through woodland wellbeing I have developed 3 different ways to experience the joy, calm and therapeutic benefit of spending time immersed in nature. Facilitating opportunities for you to reconnect with yourself and others on the same path. Treat yourself to a mini "green retreat" - the antedote to our fast paced distracted modern lives.
"We are not separate from nature, We are nature.
When we talk of getting back to nature we talk of coming home to our true, authentic selves, and give ourselves permission to be just that."

What is Forest Bathing?
The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help us de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.
Scientifically proven to have immediate and longer lasting therapeautic advantages. Being in the moment and aware helps us take notice of the beauty around us and gain more benefit from the time we spend in the natural environment.
What to expect
A woodland wellbeing forest bathing session normally lasts for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. A mindful, slow paced stroll immersed in the natural environment and we will be moving at approximately 2-3 miles an hour. There will be invitations to join in activities developed to help you engage all your senses in your Shinrin- Yoku experience as well as opportunity for quiet reflection. As the session draws to a close we will pause for a restorative tea and share our experiences of our time spent together in nature.
You may want to bring a small backpack containing a water bottle, extra layer, waterproof or sun cream and hat on warmer days. I recommend wearing long trousers and walking shoes or boots but strong trainers or wellies will do for most of the trails we will use.
Woodland Wander with Nutritious and Delicious Lunch
Our woodland wanders are a “Soft Hike”, where the emphasis is on making connections with nature and each other rather than the speed or distance we are traveling. An extended Shinrin - Yoku (forest bathing) experience. we will be walking at a relaxed pace, there will be plenty of invitations to practice mindfulness, feel the meditative effect of simply putting one foot in front of another, enjoy the view and ponder while we wander over yonder! Our delicious and nutritious plant based alfresco lunch will be served in the Casson Room at the end of our woodland wander.
